Chapleau Italic by Neale Davidson is a free retro display font with sharply slanted, high-contrast lettering. Broad black strokes narrow abruptly into hairlines, and pointed cuts give the forms an angular, almost cut-paper silhouette. Its uneven widths make the line feel lively.
Packaging is its strongest medium, especially for fashion labels and drinks with theatrical vintage branding. It also suits music posters and editorial covers, where the lettering becomes part of the main graphic. Art Deco geometry makes it especially apt for cabaret, jazz, and period nightlife themes.
