Contactlight, designed by Masato Shimojima of Creation, is a free condensed serif display font with an unusually tall, lean silhouette. Thick vertical strokes narrow abruptly into fine joins, and the small squared serifs give the letters a clipped, engineered finish. Its curves remain taut and spare.
Fashion editorial and music posters draw on that stretched elegance, but beverage packaging and boutique branding can use the sharp stroke changes to suggest something more crafted and unconventional. It is most convincing in magazine mastheads, where the slim proportions turn a publication name into a crisp, immediately recognizable signature.
